Digital fund distribution: recommendations for the Luxembourg fund industry

This paper is the first in a series of white papers on digitalisation and fintech matters which has been published by the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI) in collaboration with KPMG.

The paper is a great read because it goes beyond the usual surface level topics around digitalisation and explores the implications throughout the value chain and across the different European country markets.

Some of the proposed new services to achieve digital infrastructure and distribution include:

  • Mutualising the cost of order processing and register management with a market infrastructure based on the distributed ledger technology
  • Digitise client onboarding and mutualise cost of AML/KYC checks with a KYC repository
  • Develop an order management interface targeted at end investors
  • Develop the tools and the expertise to exploit the investor data
